NHS Wales Flu Immunisation Campaign

Wessex Refrigeration Hire

Project Overview

Pharmaceutical-grade cold storage. Deployed, validated, and operational — with zero temperature excursions.

In June 2025, Purever UK delivered two large-scale modular walk-in cold rooms for Wessex Refrigeration Hire in support of NHS Wales’ autumn flu vaccination programme. Installed at the NWSSP Medicines Unit in Cardiff, the project provided a fully compliant, resilient, and sustainable pharmaceutical-grade cold chain solution capable of maintaining strict temperature control between +2°C and +8°C, in accordance with GDP and WHO Annexe 9 standards.

The scope encompassed the full project lifecycle — from design review and fabrication through to installation, qualification, and ongoing support. Purever conducted complete Installation and Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ), including 24–48 hour temperature mapping, alarm challenge tests, and power-loss simulations, delivering a fully audit-ready solution with no temperature excursions recorded during validation. A 24/7 support service with a 3-hour on-site SLA was established to ensure operational continuity throughout the campaign.
